Sharethrough’s commitment to employee well-being and a healthy work-life balance is heavily demonstrated through our perks and benefits.

Among our offerings of mental health days, and wellness funds, is an employee favorite - Sharethrough's Summer Hours Schedule! Throughout the past 7 years, Sharethrough has kept the tradition of having a summer schedule, giving our employees Friday afternoons off work to enjoy the sunny summer months, take care of family, outdated chores, and escape the city life! In this post, we cover how by offering a shorter workday to employees, we provide them with the opportunity to recharge both physically and mentally, which translates into a renewed enthusiasm at work, and a heightened focus.

What Are Summer Hours?

Summer hours is an employee favorite, and the importance of this perk cannot be overstated. Successfully achieving a steady balance between work and personal life has become ever so important. This beloved and cherished perk is designed to infuse the summer season with fun and relaxation, allowing employees to fully embrace the joys of summer.

The philosophy behind our sunny summer hours extends far beyond a simple schedule adjustment. Sharethrough’s summer hours embodies our  strong belief in employee well-being. Summer Fridays are just the tip of the iceberg for our perks surrounding employee well-being. Along with Sharethrough’s activities surrounding  Wellness Month, our Work from Anywhere program, and our wellness allocation, employees well-being is at the forefront of our perks and benefits. These afternoons offer a canvas for employees to invest time in activities that bring joy, whether it's spending quality moments with loved ones, delving into a passion project, or simply relishing moments of solitude. This enrichment of personal experiences cascades positively into the professional realm, creating a workforce that is not only productive but fulfilled.

Why Summer Hours?

1. The Gift of Time

Employees are given the invaluable gift of time, allowing them to enjoy extended weekends throughout the season. This additional time can be spent with family and friends, pursuing hobbies, or simply unwinding – all of which contribute to improved overall well-being.

2. Enhanced Work-Life Balance

A harmonious work-life balance is essential for employee satisfaction and mental health. By allowing employees to take half-days on Fridays, Sharethrough empowers its workforce to recharge and rejuvenate. This balance not only boosts morale but also leads to increased focus and productivity when employees are at work.

4. Improved Employee Morale

Recognizing and valuing employees' personal time sends a strong message of appreciation and respect. Sharethrough's commitment to flexibility boosts employee morale, loyalty, and commitment to the company's mission.

5. Increased Creativity and Innovation

6. Strengthened Team Dynamics

Sharethrough's summer half-day Fridays encourage employees to bond outside of formal work settings. Team members can organize social activities, outings, or simply spend quality time together. Strengthening team dynamics fosters a sense of camaraderie and collaboration that transcends the office environment.

Testimonials: How Sharethroughers Are Taking Advantage of Their Summer Fridays

[Kevin Llerena; Senior IT Technician] said Summer Friday's for me have been about spending time with friends & family from BBQs, to spend time by the pool, & the beach!! Recently I got a chance to spend the day at the beach with coworkers which I normally wouldn't get to see outside of work hours since we live far apart, it was great!  Honestly, speaking of summer Fridays, having that extra time to recharge has been great for my mental health as well.

[Daniel Batista-Ferreira; Product Manager] said “Summer Fridays make summer just so much better, it allows me to catch up on all my chores from the week and I'm able to fully enjoy the weekend with family or friends. I'm able to fully relax and then on Monday I'm motivated and rested and excited to get back to work.”

[Ariane Simonelis; Legal Counsel] said “I took advantage of a Friday afternoon to embark on a journey to Maine for the weekend! Getting a head start on weekend road trips makes them all more worth it when you get to spend that extra time at your destination!”

[Simon Gravel; Talent Acquisition Lead] said Summer goes so fast in Montreal, it's crazy! Being able to have that extra time to take full advantage of it is priceless. Whether it's going for a bike ride or shooting some hoops at the court, that Friday afternoon is the smoothest way to go into the weekend and feel like I am on vacation. That extra time off is also highly beneficial, so I can get some chores done, like mowing law, so my girlfriend and I can spend more quality time together during the rest of the weekend!”

Sharethrough’s charity volleyball team even spent a Friday afternoon practicing their skills to participate in the BEC volleyball championship!
